Wintergreen Resort

Wintergreen Resort is a nationally-acclaimed four-season resort that Skiing Magazine has called "the South’s single best ski resort." Wintergreen Resort offers wide-open groomed runs ideal for learning and a three-slope area, named the Highlands, with over 1,000 feet of vertical drop for more advanced skiers. A dedicated snowboard terrain park is also available to snowboarders.

The Homestead

The Homestead is the South’s first ski destination. It offers 9 runs over 45 acres for skiing and snowboarding enjoyment, complete snow-making capabilities, Olympic-size skating rink, full rental and equipment sales, a fireside lodge and a staff of professional European ski and skate instructors for individual and group clinics. Snowboarders will enjoy Homestead’s Snowboard Park and half-pipe built just for them. The 260 feet above ground half-pipe is 20 feet wide with six feet high walls and is served by a T-bar lift. It offers snowboard features and hits.

Massanutten

Massanutten is one of the top ski areas in the Mid-Atlantic region and it boasts the highest vertical drop – 1100′ – in Virginia, Pennsylvania or Maryland. Another point in Massanutten’s favor is the length of its runs; ParaDice, for example, is 4100′ long. Snowboarders are welcome on all 14 trails in addition to the rider-only terrain park. Additionally, every trail is illuminated for night skiing and riding.

Bryce Resort

Bryce Resort offers a wonderful family ski experience in between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains. As it is only 100 miles from the Washington DC metropolitan area and small in stature, Bryce is an excellent spot to learn how to ski or snowboard. Its 8 trails and 500 vertical feet are designed expressly for beginners and intermediates although advanced skiers and riders can find some challenge here as well.
